Customizing Mini-games in the Esoteric Editor

Imagine exploring a 3D World with your own creative game play and various different NPCs to interact with. As you approach a NPC in your World, you are prompted for a question or a quiz that you can set-up to discover the learning objectives of the Game. Yes, that is what is possible with the Esoteric Editor, a game within a game or simply what we refer to as Mini-games.

Mini-games are games that are available in the Esoteric Editor to further enhance the game play experience by providing interactivity with NPCs. They can be accessed from the Menu Options directly as shown below:

One of the most useful features of the Esoteric Editor is not only the ability to attach Mini-games to various different NPCs in the game, but also to customize them to suit the game designer’s needs. Specifically, you can set-up custom winning and losing messages and not just the default ones. This feature can really be of value as each Mini-game would then be able to revolve around a unique game objective. For example, if NPC is Sally and Harry is the game player, then Sally can either provide a hint through the custom winning or losing message or more importantly engage in dialogue with Harry, thus providing a real 2-way conversation feel. Below is where you enter the custom messages in Mini-games:

There is also an option to reward the player with an item that could be used to unlock further challenges and mysteries inside a game. The item can be given based on a specific level of score achieved. It can also be a curse item, which can make game play even more difficult instead of making it easy as typically done.

We will be introducing more variations of Mini-games so check back with more updates from us.
